Turkey Day

Yesterday was a reminder that there is so much to be thankful for in my life. Eating Thanksgiving yesterday was a new experience for me because Igor and Lucy are from Russia. The food was different but SO good. Turkey wrapped bacon… yes please.

Every person had to say what they are thankful for and then you take a shot (cranberry infused vodka).

  • Friends, Family, Life and Good Vodka
  • Waking up in the morning
  • Happiness and learning to be thankful for everything we have
  • Spending time together on Thanksgiving
  • Living in the moment of here and now
  • Living in the US and having so many opportunities in life

The last one hit home most. That is definitely something I take for granted.  I got to talking about it and there are people waiting, begging, doing everything they can just to get a chance to be here in the US where the possibilities and freedoms are endless. This is something that as an American, I take for granted every day. I was very humbled.

It is the little things that make our way of life and offer us so much security. We have electricity, roof over our head, a locked front door with very little worry. Things I know I have always taken for granted. I didn’t know any better.

I think sometimes we forget about the little things. We want to complain about this or that (I am just as guilty but striving to be a better person) but yet we have very little to complain about. WE HAVE SO MUCH! The problem is, we don’t know any better but it is time we learn even if we have to educate ourselves. Someday, what we know could be gone. So embrace this life you have now. you never know.

Here is a song I think helps me put life into perspective at times:
