Siem Reap

I made it to Siem Reap after a ride in a Toyota Camry with 8 other people. It was a bit crowded but it worked. It was a 2 1/2 hour commute. When I got to the town of Siem Reap I get a tuk tuk and set out to find a hostel. The first 2 I didn’t like but I finally found one that was perfect called Garden Village. I opted for my own room which was $3 more a night versus a dorm. I prefer that since I am traveling with my camera and cash. Plus after the last few days I just wanted to be able to unwind. The vibe here is a bit on the party side and without eating much and finding it hard to hydrate, drinking is far from my mind.

I took the afternoon evening easy. I walked to old market and saw raw meat and fish everywhere. It smelt so bad but the market was really interesting. There was even a baby right next to the meat and a sharp knife. Things like that aren’t a concern here. I walked the streets till nightfall but went to bed early knowing I was getting up early for sunrise at Angkor Wat.
