So the last few days my posts have been short. I was busy traveling and visiting with friends.
Rhonda, me, Mira
The last time I saw Mira she was 11 and she is 13 now. She is growing up to be so beautiful inside and out.
Briley went to the dentist so she was checking her teeth at dinner.
Roxy and Bree sleeping on the floor and I thought it was cute.
Dan & Rhonda at Tin Man
I had a great visit with 2 families in Indiana. Dan and Adrienne have 2 cute cute girls, Briley 7 and Bree 9. Jokes and dancing galore. I went to their dance class:
Rhonda gave me a book called:
Wrecked: When a Broken World Slams into your Comfortable Life
Wrecked is about the life we are afraid to live. It’s about radical sacrifice and selfless service–how we find purpose in the midst of pain. It’s a look at how we discover fulfillment in the least likely of places. It’s about living like we mean it. It’s a guide to growing up and giving your life away, helping you live in the tension between the next adventure and the daily mundane.
This book is for us–a generation intent on pursuing our life’s work in a way that leaves us without regrets.
I love reading so I will be reading and posting a book review on it soon! I am so thankful for amazing friends that share with me things that they find inspiration in. Rhonda and I had a few deep conversations about life. Reminds me of a poem.
Winners Are People Like You
Winners take chances.
Like everyone else, they fear failing,
But they refuse to let fear control them.
Winners don’t give up.
When life gets rough, they hang in
Until the going gets better.
Winners are flexible.
They realize there is more than one way
And are willing to try others.
Winners know they are not perfect.
They respect their weaknesses
While making the most of their strengths.
Winners fail, but they don’t stay down.
They stubbornly refuse to let a fall
Keep them from climbing . . . . .
Winners don’t blame
Fate for their failures,
Nor luck for their successes.
Winners accept responsibility
For their lives.
Winners are positive thinkers
Who see good in all things.
From the ordinary, they make
Winners believe in the path they have chosen
Even when it’s hard,
Even when others can’t see
Where they are going.
Winners are patient.
They know a goal is only as worthy
As the effort that’s required
To achieve it.
Winners are people like you.
They make the world a better place to be.
I guess my take away from the conversations, the book and the poem is this: Everyone is going through something. It may seem as though others have it together but everyone has or is fighting a battle. It may seem on the outside that one has it all together but that can be deceiving. We make it through and that is how winning is done.
Here is some pics from my drive today. I made it to my mom’s in Kansas.

It is so good to be home! Especially when I am with my sister and this is on the TV
